Faculty, staff, and graduate students in the Humanities can get free web hosting through a new service called HumSpace. Register a domain name and create a digital presence with ease. Start a blog, share research, highlight class projects—it’s really up to you.

Each account comes with the following features:

  • Subdomain of your choice (e.g., myname.humspace.ucla.edu)
  • 2 GB of storage
  • Automated weekly backups
  • 1-Click installation of WordPress and Omeka
  • cPanel access to easily manage files and databases

How to Request

HumSpace for Classes

Instructors can offer free web hosting to their undergraduate students for use in classrooms as well. It’s great for collaborative class projects. And if you need helping getting your students up to speed on web development, HumTech staff can visit your class and provide workshops on how to create a website.

For classroom request, instructors must first email webops@humnet.ucla.edu.

Technical Support

While there is the option to set up a website in minutes by installing WordPress in one-click, we recommend HumSpace to those with some technical experience. If you need assistance, we’ve provided extensive support documentation that covers common questions. If you encounter problems with HumSpace, limited support is also offered through an external vendor and can be requested by users via a support link within the dashboard once you’re logged in.

If you have any questions about HumSpace, such as how you can offer this service to students in your class, or how you can install other content management systems (CMS) in one-click, email webops@humnet.ucla.edu.
