Choreographing Interventions in Multi-User Online Environments

Event is from 12:00 – 2:00 pm and a repeat workshop will occur from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

In this workshop game developer, performance artist, and interventionist Angela Washko will lead participants in exercises that will ask them to reconsider virtual environments as distinctive contexts for performance and intervention. Participants will gain both art historical and technical tools to create both collaborative and individual performative interventions inside multi-user online environments. Washko will present tactical media artists, performers, net.artists and culture jammers as precedents for more recent performative interventions in virtual spaces spanning social media, camming sites, massively multiplayer online video games and more. After the workshop, participants will have the tools they need to choreograph a site-specific performative intervention inside a multi-user environments.
