3D Scanning and 3D Printing Workshop in YRL,

April 6, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Cotsen Institute’s Digital Archaeology Lab and the UCLA Library’s Lux Lab have partnered up to hold a 3D scanning and printing workshop next week, Thursday April 6th, from 10-12p in the Young Research Library Conference Room.

The first hour of the workshop will be led by Andy Grayson from Rapid 3D, who is going to be showcasing Artec 3D scanners. He will do a live demonstration, showing how best to use the scanners and discussing some of the many applications of this technology. Following Andy’s demonstration, Doug Daniels (Lux Lab) and Deidre Whitmore (Digital Archaeology Lab) will be on hand with some 3D printers to discuss the potential applications of the scanners, both how they relate to 3D printers and how they can be used in the classroom or for research. We will also have some print samples on hand from scans that were made with these scanners prior to the workshop.

We look forward to seeing you there, and please, by all means, share this with your colleagues or anyone else you think might be interested.
