Multi-media audio, visual, and textual composition on the SCALAR platform by technical lead and editor, Rachel Lee, UCLA Professor of Gender Studies, English, and the Institute of Society and Genetics. The content of this Scalar book is authored by ten sick and disabled artists, academics, and their allies in various stages of career and capacity. An outgrowth of a humanities research residence in Spring 2022, this SCALAR piece documents these ten authors’ choreographies, conversations, documentary images, and DIY manuals, as they waxed and waned in varying degrees of muscular shaking and tic-ing (dystonia), of invisible but felt chronic inflammation & brain fog—a hallmark of Post-Acute Sequelae of CoVid (PASC)— and other both progressive and intermittent symptoms of chronic illnesses.
