Humanities Technology Consultants (HTCs) for 2026-27

Are you looking for a role that offers hands-on, professional experience in a supportive team environment? Are you open to expanding your academic technology and digital humanities scholarship skills? If so, apply to join us as a Humanities Technology Consultant for the 2026-2027 academic year!
We seek applicants from students in any graduate program, with a particular interest in applicants from the Humanities Division or the Digital Humanities Program.
What does an HTC do?
As an HTC, you will develop technical and instructional design skills, gain experience in project planning and digital methods, and work with faculty, staff, and students through instruction, consultation, and training across a range of digital humanities initiatives. This includes:
Instructional Support
- Participate in instructional initiatives and course-based collaborations undertaken by HumTech and HumThink
- Support Humanities instructors’ use of Bruin Learn course websites and related tools
- Train and support Humanities faculty, instructors, and TAs in digitizing print, audio, and video media for online delivery
- Provide drop-in and scheduled technical support to faculty with instructional questions
- Research and implement solutions and best practices for instructional tools and technologies (with a focus on the Humanities)
Project Consultation & Digital Methods Support
- Consult on project design, tool selection, and digital workflows
- Provide guidance on data preparation, organization, and management practices
- Recommend platforms, tools, and methodologies appropriate to project goals
- Offer training on digital methods, tools, and research workflows
- Support project planning, including timelines, scope, and sustainability considerations
- Develop documentation, tutorials, and resources to support project work
Position Details
- Hours: 25-50% (10-20 hours a week) (employment percentage based on availability)
- Pay Rate: $30 per hour (no tuition and fees remission)
- Term: Week of September 14th, 2026 (for training) + 2026-2027 Academic year
- Location: Hybrid (on-campus 1 day a week for meeting/in-person support hours)
Reappointment for an additional year is possible, assuming continued good standing and available budget; summer work may also be available.

Let us know if you are based in a Humanities department, are affiliated with the Digital Humanities program, and/or have any of the following qualifications:
- Expertise in two or more languages;
- Experience teaching undergraduates;
- Experience in areas such as databases, network analysis, text mining, multimedia editing, GIS, 3D modeling, XR, data wrangling, UX/UI experience;
- Have an interest in the use of technology for instruction, digital scholarship, and research
- Have an interest in providing technical support and training to faculty and other graduate students.
Qualifications (required):
- An interest in learning new technology skills
- Availability for the full AY 2026-27 (Fall-Winter-Spring), and the week of September 14, 2026 (for training)
- Ability to work at least 25% for the full academic year
- Being a graduate student (Master’s or Doctoral) in good standing who is eligible to work in the United States
