The Humanities Technology team is excited to announce the upcoming release of our new departmental website framework, Mithril (Modern Intuitive Technology Resource Interaction Library).

Mithril is a nextscreenshot of gutenberg blocks-generation WordPress site package, specifically engineered for the Humanities Division at UCLA. Utilizing Gutenberg blocks and custom-developed plugins, this modular architecture delivers enterprise-grade security, streamlined updates, a foundation for rapid content creation and syndication, and site customization.

We are looking for up to five departments that would be part of our initial pilot program. The ideal candidates would be departments that

  • have staff dedicated to updating their site and content
  • be willing to dedicate at least 10 hours per week to this task
  • have an older departmental site that needs to be redone

As Mithril is still a product in development, they should also

  • understand that this is not a final release, and that they may encounter bugs
  • be willing to report issues or bugs as they find them to our team for correction
  • be willing to suggest improvements

Mithril sites will be created on a separate development instance that will be switched over when ready.

To apply for the pilot program starting in August, please fill out this form no later than Friday, August 1, 2025. Your UCLA Google login is required.

For more information on Mithril, or to discuss whether or not your department would be a good applicant for the final, please contact us, or see the video from our presentation.
