Digital Futures at UC Press

A discussion with Alison Mudditt, Director of UC Press; David Schaberg, Dean of Humanities; and Todd Presner, Vice Chair, UC Press Editorial Committee Wednesday, October 8th, 4-6 PM Young Research Library, Main Conference Room 11360 (first floor, behind café) Last November, UC Press and the UC Humanities Research Initiative convened a UC-wide workshop on “The Future of Humanities Publishing in the Digital Age” to explore innovative strategies that proactively responded to the crisis in monograph publishing in both the Humanities and the Social Sciences. The two-day workshop led to a whitepaper (link below) with a series of recommendations for the Press. Among other things, UC Press is currently developing an open access monographs series as well as a model for open access journals and is preparing to publish a series of “born digital” projects next year.
