Rebeca Martínez-Tibbles

Rebeca Martínez-Tibbles is a Ph.D. candidate in History at UCLA specializing in colonial Latin America, gender, and the Spanish Inquisition. Her dissertation, “Women and Bigamy in Colonial Mexico, Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries,” examines how women navigated marriage, intimate relationships, and institutional authority across New Spain. She has extensive experience in university teaching, digital research, academic publishing, and museum and public-history projects. As a HumTech Technology Consultant, Rebeca is particularly interested in helping faculty and students use digital tools to support accessible, engaging, and innovative teaching and scholarship. She holds an M.A. in History from UCLA and a B.A. in History and French from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
