Wei Si Nic Yiu/ 姚煒詩 (They/Them) is a 4th year PhD candidate in Gender Studies at University of California, Los Angeles. They hold a BA in Women and Gender Studies from University of Toronto and a MA in Gender Studies from Women and Gender Studies Institute, University of Toronto. Their current research explores what a concept of quiet could mean to queering Asian cultures of resistance. Their work is informed and inspired by their own experiences of migration as a queer Asian in Hong Kong, Beijing, Toronto, and now Los Angeles. Their research is impossible without Black feminist and queer of color critique scholarship’s visionary world-making capacity. They are a core member of the Black Feminist Initiative at the Center for the Study of Women.
